Reading Strategies

THE KEY TO READING IS PRACTICE!  READ, READ, READ!

1.  Look at the picture for a clue.

2.  Get your mouth ready to say the word.

3.  Try the beginning sound of the word.

4.  Look for familiar chunks/small words within a bigger word.

5.  Go back to the beginning of the sentence and try again.

6.  Ask yourself if it makes sense.

7.  If all else fails, ask someone for help with the word.
